Unify Cycling is excited to bring you the North Creek 4-6er in conjunction with the Upper Hudson Trails Alliance. This endurance fest combines top level riding mixed with a festive vibe that everyone will enjoy. The course will be held within the Ski Bowl park in North Creek NY.
This is a 4 or 6 hour SOLO rider or TEAM RELAY event (one rider per team on course at a time). We welcome all categories and levels of riders, racers, spectators, friends and family. There will be Vendors, Merchandise, food & drink for purchase. The venue will be reserved for participants during August 15th and 16th.
Race Start & Finish
The race will start promptly at 10 AM
Your final lap must be finished by the timed limit (4 or 6 hours) to count
General Course Rules
Each team should designate both a team captain and co-captain. All correspondence for a team must be conducted through and only through the team captain. In the event that a team captain is unavailable, the co-captain may represent the team. However, only team captains may file a protest. Team captains and co-captains are required to attend the pre-race meeting. We also encourage you to invite your entire team to the meeting as an opportunity for them to clarify any questions regarding the event prior to starting time
Follow the marked course at all times. Any attempt by a logged in a racer to take a short-cut off the designated course will result in the immediate disqualification of that racer or their entire team
All bicycles must be completely human-powered. No e- or pedal-assist is allowed
Be vocal with intent to overtake and yield to faster riders where safe; loudly announce your intent to pass by saying "on your left/right"
Lapped riders should yield to leaders
Riders pushing bikes must yield the right of way to racers riding bikes. A racer pushing a bicycle may overtake a racer riding a bicycle so long as the racer riding a bicycle is not impeded
Yield position as soon as it is safe to do so
Be respectful of other racers and avoid blocking trails unnecessarily
No Headphones or Bluetooth speakers while on course
Course marshals will be stationed throughout the race for safety and support
All co-ed teams are required to have a minimum of one person of the opposite sex
A rider who has entered the course must complete his or her lap. Rider substitutions can only be made at the check-in station
Riders should plan to be supported only at the pit area. Riders may receive mechanical assistance from other riders on course or neutral support. Swapping bike parts is permitted
Any attempt to interfere with or impede a challenging rider is considered unsportsmanlike and is not permitted
All racers must conduct themselves in a civilized manner. Use of foul or intimidating language or behavior towards anyone including other racers or race officials on or off the course will not be tolerated. Any racer found in violation of this regulation will result in immediate disqualification of the racer and/or their team
The race director shall be the final authority on all matters
Protests must be in writing and submitted to the race director any time after the race but no later than 15 minutes after the final race result postings. Only team captains may submit a protest. Protests should describe the incident in detail and contain names, addresses, phone numbers and signatures of participants and witnesses to the incident. The race director shall make an immediate and final ruling on the protest
Personal and Site Safety
Federal, state and local ordinances must be followed at all times
CPSC approved HELMETS are mandatory at all times while on a bike
A signed waiver form is required for all participants prior to the start
Racers are responsible for their own health and safety. If you need to stop, move off the trail to allow others to pass safely
Spectators must stay in designated viewing areas for their safety and that of the racers. Do not enter the race course or block any part of it. Interference with racers will lead to removal from the event
EMS will be on site and first aid kits will be available but it isn’t a bad idea to pack your own
Keep your pit and the transition area free from items so that other racers may proceed freely
Dogs must be leashed AT ALL TIMES
Attend to all children while in the park
Littering on the course is prohibited. Carry out all trash or dispose of it in designated places
Pit Area & Access
The pit area is restricted to racers and their designated crew only
Crews must be identifiable and abide by pit area rules at all times
Racers may receive assistance only within the pit area
Racers should bring their own tools, supplies, and nutrition
Keep pit areas clean and organized. All items should be removed post-race
Prizes
Cash and swag prizes are based on the number of entrants in that category. We make every effort to provide equitable top prizes but expect categories to meet minimal racers/teams in the category to qualify
Respect the Environment
This event takes place on public trails and lands. Help us preserve it by following Leave No Trace principles
Do not disturb local wildlife, plants, or water sources or alter any terrain or features at any time
Restroom facilities are available in the Mindor Pavilion. Please use them and help keep the area sanitary
Exchange Area / Tent
An exchange area will be located just past the start/finish line near the pit
Team exchanges should take place only in this area and riders log in and log out at the check-in station
The logout time is the login time for the next rider
If a rider is to continue on for another lap there is no need to enter the exchange area
Teams should be sure that each rider is logging in and out correctly
Parking
Parking is available in designated areas only. No parking is allowed along the race course or on any road way in the park. Overflow parking is available at the Town Hall or Riverside Park (access the Ski Bowl via the Carol Thomas Trail)
Carpooling is encouraged to reduce traffic and environmental impact
Camping
Limited onsite camping Is available at Grunblatt Memorial Beach on a first come, first served basis. A $15 cash deposit goes to the Town of Johnsburg
No refunds will be issued if the event must be canceled due to uncontrollable circumstances. The promoter reserves the right to make accommodations as it may deem fair or equitable in the event of an unexpected event cancellation.
